DO THIS:

1) DO NOT TELL YOU CHILD ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT THE SCHOOL IS DOING OR ATTEMPTING TO DO.  IT IS TOUGH ENOUGH BEING A KID THESE DAYS. THIS IS AN ARGUMENT BETWEEN ADULTS. IT IS NONE OF YOUR CHILD'S BUSINESS. A CHILD IS GOING TO SCHOOL TO LEARN AND GET LIFE SKILLS. HELP YOUR CHILD DO THAT.

2) DO NOT GET ARGUMENTATIVE OR UPSET - YOU KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR CHILD. NAZI GERMANY AND THE STATE DECIDING WHAT A CHILD MUST DO IS NOT HAPPENING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD ANYMORE. SO YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILD'S BEST WELFARE

3) MAKE THE SCHOOL PUT EVERYTHING IN WRITING

You might meet resistance from the school on this  point.  Fine. Buy a $25 tape recorder (old, cassette type -they still exist) and a $5.00 suction cup that you hook to the phone. Buy some new cassette tapes.  When you get a call from the school, say, "Just a minute. Hook up the tape recorder.  Say, clearly, "Mrs. Jones I am now recording this conversation.  Please repeate what you just said on the understanding that I am now recording this conversation."  And record it. Rewind the tape, take it out, mark it with the name and date.  Transcribe it and send a copy to the person who you recorded.

If the school wants to  meet with you, bring your tape recorder.  Put  it in the middle of the table or desk and tell all at the meeting that you will be recording the meeting. If they disagree, tell them thanks, but no thanks.  If they agree to a recording, start the tape recorder and speak into it.  Announce yourself, the date, where you are, who else is in on the meeting, and the time. After the meeting, transcribe and send in the transcription."

Make sure you get your questions answered during any such meeting- who evaluated  your child? Is there a quota in the school for numbers of children labeled with ADHD?  How much will the school receive from the State and from the Federal Government for labeling your child?  Has your child's IQ been tested?  (Many children labeled as hyperactive are actually very high IQ and bored in school.)

4) CALL THE ACLU OR ANY HUMAN RIGHTS ATTORNEY GROUP AND GET THE NAME OF A LAWYER, TELL THE SCHOOL TO SEND A CARBON COPY OF EVERY LETTER THEY SEND YOU TO YOUR NEW ACLU LAWYER, PUT THAT IN WRITING AND CC YOUR ATTORNEY

5) CALL THE MAYOR'S OFFICE, FIND OUT WHO IS OVER SCHOOLING, TELL THEM YOU WANT TO MEET.

6) WRITE THAT PERSON A LETTER AND SEND A COPY TO YOUR SCHOOL

7) TAKE YOUR CHILD TO A REGULAR, NON-MENTAL HEALTH DOCTOR. TELL YOUR CHILD THEY ARE GETTING A CHECK UP AND GET THEM A CHEDK UP. EYES, EARS, NOSE AND THROAT.  DOES YOUR CHILD NEED GLASSES? HAVE A HEARING PROBLEM?

8) LOOK ON THE WEB AND READ UP ON DIET CHANGE FOR HANDLING HYPER ACTIVITY (AND WE HAVE SOME OF THIS INFORMATION AT BETTER CHOICES AS WELL.) TAKING OUT SUGAR, WHITE BREAD, ADDING  IN VITAMINS, AND OMEGA

9 3 (FISH OIL) HAVE BEEN PROVEN BY REAL STUDIES TO TOTALLY CHANGE A CHILD'S HYPERACTIVITY

10) GET YOUR CHILD REAL TUTORING HELP.  THEY MAY BE BORED BECAUSE THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND AND SO FIDGET

11) ON THE OTHER HAND YOUR CHILD CAN BE BORED BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST THAT BORED BY THE SLOW PACE OF THE CLASSROOM

12) TRY NURTURING, SUPPORTING, HELPFUL METHODS - THAT IS WHAT CHILDREN NEED - REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE A KID?
